hi all,
this was a great dance weekend for me.
it actually started thursday evening when i was asked to substitute teach a mixed level class at a local studio. it was so much fun to work with a new group of dancers.
friday night i danced at marrakesh in la jolla with vilia. she did the first show, i did the second.
it was really a fun crowd. there was a huge table there for a birthday party, of course. the guest of honor was a little 8 year old boy. he and his sisters got up and danced and stole the show. they were so in to it. it was great.
"the kesh" is the same as always. good food, great staff, excellent service, great rotation of high quality dancers.
saturday i was back at zorba's in chula vista. we did a new show format that worked out very well. the audience responded positively so i think its a keeper. that venue always has a lively crowd.
then stopped by ascension on the way back from the gig, danced some more, saw friends, etc.
today was the shake n bake fund raiser for tribal style sd. there were all kinds of tempting goodies, food and shopping. i resisted the baked goods, except for the raw vegan treats. but of course brought brownies to tempt everyone else. muhahaha! j/k.
i was, however, lured into purchasing an amazing creation by suzan teal. it was a deal, considering the hours she spent making it. i won't admit to exactly what it is yet, b/c i'm supposed to be on costume purchasing restriction after the last purple and gold madame abla [which you can see at claire de lune or wahib's this month, see info below] i think the purple and gold is the costume of the month :)
so anyway, suzan teal made this amazing "thing"and it fit like it was custom made... and i have the perfect song for it...so she is making the final alterations on straps, etc. it's so crazy, i can't wait to wear it but must wait to debut it at sameda fair [sunday july 27 scottish rite center, san diego] i promised to save it for that show, as she made it and is a major sameda board member :)
hope you all had a great weekend too.
